The first Atlantic Division International Invitational regatta will be held on Lake Banook, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The Lake Banook course played host to the Canoe Sprint World Championships last year and plans to welcome paddlers to Dartmouth for two days of competitive racing July 8 & 9 this summer. Our event hopes to offer the spirit of “reciprocity” with successful regattas held in Ottawa and Lake Placid, New York the previous week.
Racing at the Atlantic Invitational will follow ICF international rules.
There will be a nominal entry fee per participant of $25.00.
Coaches are asked to register the NUMBER of athletes your Club or Provincial team plans to send by June 3rd
Names may be entered on the draw at a later date but coaches must submit FIRM numbers by early June as to how many athletes plan to participate in order to organize an efficient Invitational.
There will be a full race card—including 200,500 and 1000 meter distances for singles and team boats –athletes in the ICF Junior category. As a general rule, athletes in the Open/U23 category will race the same singles and crew boat events included in the next Olympic Games.
We hope you will consider taking a trip to Nova Scotia this summer, home to some great paddling and warm hospitality.
Banook Canoe Club is Nova Scotia's first Canoe Club and has been established since 1903 on Lake Banook. The red and white club colours have long been a Dartmouth tradition.
