AGE CLASSES FOR RACING

Sprint Racing Age Classes: 

U10: under 10 years of age on the 1st of January of the year of the competition.

U12: under 12 years of age on the 1st of January of the year of the competition.

U14: under 14 years of age on the 1st of January of the year of the competition.

U16: under 16 years of age on the 1st of January of the year of the competition.

U18: under 18 years of age on the 1st of January of the year of the competition.

Junior Class: 18 years of age or older on the 1st of January of the year of the competition, provided he or she has not qualified for Senior status. Junior is a aggregator class for paddlers who have not yet earned 'Senior' status, or for paddlers who earned, but did not maintain 'Senior' status.

Senior Class: Earned class based on points and placing in CKC Jr. and Sr. races (age class paddlers who earn Senior status can still race in their age class until post U18.).

Master class: In local competitions, paddlers 25 years of age and up are able to compete. At the Canadian Masters Championships (CANMAS) you must meet the following…

  • on the 1st of January of the year of the competition:

    • A Master competitor shall be 34 years of age or older on the first day of January of the year of the competition. Any competitor who has competed as a member of the National Team in the previous year cannot race Master events in the discipline they raced for the National Team.

Proof of Age - All competitors shall provide proof of birth date to the Division upon registration with the sprint racing discipline of the Association.
