Our events wouldn’t be possible without the support from the many helping hands of volunteers! We are always looking for regatta day volunteers in the form of Referee Boat Drivers, Safety Boat Spotters and Announcers.

If you are interested in taking on a volunteer role with us, please email regatta@adckc.ca with your interests and availability!

Boat Driver:

Get a behind the scenes look of regatta operations on the water! Boat Drivers operate the pontoon referee boats with direction of the official(s) on board. Referee boats follow races down the course. Must have a Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC). PFDs are provided and required to be worn while on the water.

Safety Boat Spotter:

The closest seat for watching the races is from the safety boat! A Safety Boat Spotter assists with watching for and helping tipped athletes on the water. Must be an able-bodied person with the ability to lift or assist with taking boats/athletes out of the water. The ability to swim is also necessary. Spotters will be on the water in the safety boat with an MFR Rescue staff member. PFDs are provided and required to be worn while in the safety boat.

Announcer:

Announcers get the best view of races from the tower! Announcers inform others of what races are coming down the course, provide in-race commentary during the races, and relay other messages as needed.

Snacks and refreshments are always provided, and lunch is provided on full-day events!

Volunteers are asked to please arrive 30 minutes before the first race of the day. A short orientation will be provided for new volunteers upon arrival.
