On July 5th and 6th, ADCKC hosted a camp for paddlers who expressed interest in learning to paddle and even racing at the North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) for Team Mi’kmaw Nova Scotia. The Canoe/Kayak portion of NAIG is being hosted on Lake Banook in 2020. To date, Nova Scotia has yet to send a team of paddlers to NAIG, and the end goal is to have a team compete. Thanks to ADCKC’s Sports Excellence Lead Jake Jeannot for organizing this great event and Senobe’s Ava Carew for volunteering her time. The future of Team Mi’kmaw Nova Scotia in 2020 and beyond is looking bright!
