Kevin McIntyre - Regional Coach

A big warm welcome to our new ADCKC Regional Coach, Kevin McIntyre!

Kevin started his paddling career as an athlete 23 years ago at Balmy Beach and has been involved ever since. He’s coached at Balmy Beach, Pickering Rouge, and, most recently, at Mic Mac ACC. Kevin’s most excited about getting to work with coaches and athletes by helping them achieve their goals within his new role. Additionally, Kevin looks forward to being a representative of the sport and expanding to other communities in Atlantic Canada.

Some of the primary responsibilities of the Regional Coach role:

  • Coaching and developing skills of Team Atlantic athletes.

  • Providing club support for coaches and implementing new ways to advance the sport in Atlantic Canada.

  • Giving athletes new and exciting opportunities to elevate training experiences (ex. new team practices and regional, national and international travel opportunities.

We’re extremely excited to have Kevin on the team! He has years of hands-on experience and the drive to push Canoe/Kayak in and desirable direction for everyone. Welcome!

Meet Team Atlantic!

What is Team Atlantic?

Team Atlantic is a group of athletes from most competitive clubs in Atlantic Canada. It’s comprised of athletes between the ages of 12 - 20 with Open Athletes in their early 20s.

What do they do?

These athletes have a chance to work alongside each other and train with high-performing athletes their own age from most clubs. The Atlantic Division organizes training sessions so athletes can come together and train with each other in team boats or singles. There are also dry land training opportunities throughout the off season (September - April). Additionally, athletes have a chance to attend athletes development sessions that cover topics like nutrition, sports psychology, and mental health. These sessions are a chance for athletes to develop their training regiment on and off the water.

Who are they?

We’re so glad you asked! This year we created athlete profiles on the website under the U16 Team, U18 Team, Open Team, and Paracanoe Team tabs. If you’d like to learn more about these athletes, click the links!
