Meet the ADCKC Summer Team! 🛶 ☀️

Another exciting summer is ahead! 🌞

Amongst our six summer staff we welcome several NEW additions to our team! These new employees have decades of collective paddling experience!

Meet Alexa, Carys, and Lucy! 🤝

These three hardworking individuals participate and continue to participate as athletes, volunteers, and coaches over their many years of experience in the sport of canoe/kayak.

This summer they will be a powerful ADCKC trio managing everything regatta-related in addition to overseeing ADCKC’s exciting NEW grassroots projects! Alexa, Carys, and Lucy are in charge of the Paracanoe Introductory Program, Start With SuP, Boys and Girls Club, and our Indigenous Outreach Programs across Atlantic Canada.

Managing these programs and making sure all regattas are top-notch is a HUGE undertaking. But if any team can handle it, it’s these three! 💪

Next, we have our facilities team! Meet Nick and Garrett 🔨

Nick spends his summers as a committed canoer from Senobe Aquatic Club and joined the ADCKC team in 2016 as a course technician. Fun Fact: Nick is the longest-standing course technician on Lake Banook! Want to know something about the racecourse? Nick knows the answer! 💭

Garrett, on the other hand, started in the summer of 2018. He’s dabbled in regatta management and facilities, however, his true skill is in announcing! If you’ve ever attended a regatta on Lake Banook, you’ve likely heard Garrett engage the crowds over the loudspeaker! He is truly a world-class announcer!

Last but certainly not least, we have our Data Management Lead, Iain! 👨‍💻

Iain started his ADCKC journey in 2019 as a Regatta Coordinator and has since moved to his current role. Iain oversees back-end regatta logistics. He’s the man behind the scenes who makes every regatta possible on Lake Banook!

The ADCKC is lucky to have such a diverse team. We have several individuals with remarkable experience in the sport and we look forward to showcasing all of that experience this summer! ☀️

Jumpstart Grant Awarded to the Atlantic Division

In February, Canadian Tire Corporation announced an additional $12 million commitment to Jumpstarts Sport Relief Fund to help sport and recreation organizations build back sport and play in Canada.

We’re pleased to announce that the ADCKC is one of 500 sport and recreation organizations across Canada to receive funding from the Canadian Tire Jumpstart program. Jumpstart has already dispersed over $9 million in funding to more than 800 organizations across Canada through the Jumpstart Relief Fund. We are grateful for this news and know the positive impact it will have on our sport and the athletes who paddle in Atlantic Canada.

With the help from the Jumpstart fund, we will be able to continue to provide our athletes exciting projects, enhanced support, and enjoyable environments for all canoe/kayak participants.
